Metalsmith and Jewelry Designer Kriya Davis began studying metalsmithing in Portland, Maine. Since then, travel to Europe and the Caribbean has given her boundless inspiration. Coming back to her jewelers bench to draw from her experiences she expresses ideas grounded in the rhythms of the world around her. Her jewelry mirrors her fashion-forward sensibility, and her personal expression of strength and beauty comes through in spartan, silvery forms.

Artist Statement
I am always surprised at how personal jewelry can be. It can do more than make a statement; jewelry can evoke a mood or even trigger memories. My jewelry is made by hand with the care of creating a piece to wear throughout your life and eventually pass down to others to create something personal for the receiver.

I thrive on new ideas and the potential for the unexpected. I have been making things for as far back as I can remember, but only upon discovering art through jewelry several years ago, did a dream awaken and the maturity of my art come to be. Metal is a medium where I can truly trust my creative instinct.
